Triptych Postcard Front

If you're in the area, please stop on by and if you want to eat make a rez: 415.703.0557
Opening reception: Thursday, March 9th, 2006. 6 – 9 p.m., runs until April 2nd.
Triptych Restaurant & Gallery: 1155 Folsom Street, San Francisco, CA

Here's a ditty from our press release:
Triptych is pleased to present the work of Beehive, a trio of artists including: Mati McDonough, Debbie Horn and Christina Empedocles. The opening extravaganza on March 9th, from 6-9 p.m. will feature the band King City and wine tasting provided by Andrew Lane .

A premier exhibition by Beehive will feature paintings of three emerging female artists; Mati McDonough paints improbable narratives teetering between beauty and awkwardness. Her paintings are influenced by textile design and fables, depicting escapism and nostalgia. Debbie Horn has developed a visual language that consists of arranging and manipulating objects in order to emphasize her themes of performance and entertainment. These create a narrative around her musical subculture and persona. Christina Empedocles’ work explores the psychology of portraiture, engaging her figures in an ongoing inquiry into realism and state of mind. While focusing on solitude she forces her figures to inhabit a space that is unreal and noiseless, countering our ever-widening, chaotic, urban environment.

The space for Triptych is SoMa lofty industrial hip, which lends itself to display the various works of revolving artists. Triptych’s ongoing evolution of pop art takes a humorous turn in its Disco Bathroom. Beyond the bathroom, you’ll find an organic succulent and tropical plant garden. The dinner chef Craig Howell has introduced his own angle on New American and California-Mediterranean cuisine. Featuring dishes like the Salmon Filet with Jerusalem artichoke puree, spaghetti squash & anchovy lemon butter. A fresh modern daily special Sashimi is included on the menu that is as artistic as the Triptych space. Howell makes delicious dessert to order, rounding off a great dining experience SoMa style embracing great food, good life, and artistic centering.
