i'm really excited about the possibility of finding a studio intern who can help grow my art biz! ideally i'd love someone who is interested in art and learning the ins and outs of running a small art business.
i work both in my home office in the mission district of SF (walking distance to BART). i package orders and do design work on the computer in my home office, while i paint and make creative messes in my art studio behind my home that is shared with other awesome artists. i am flexible around hours and times, but would love to work together to create a schedule and goals that work for us both!
my days vary between preparing for art shows, sending out orders from my shoppe, lesson planning for teaching art classes, on-line marketing and illustration jobs, some of which i collaborate on with my husband hugh. some recent clients have been shirts for Patagonia, board game characters for University Games and a rock album for Blame Sally.
here are some areas which i need help with :
office/studio space: help organize, prepare panels for painting, print and package orders for my shoppe and for shows
creative & artistic: i would love to teach someone my artistic process and how i develop work, stay inspired, brainstorm, sketch and execute new ideas
admin: help keep inventory of packaging and art supplies, update mailing list, post office runs, invoice jobs, enter info into quickbooks
design: photograph, style, scan, clean up with photoshop, upload work on-line, help create promos for postcards, advertising, newsletters, update website
marketing: help send out samples to various galleries, boutiques and agents and blogs
unfortunately i cannot pay at this point, but would i would love to exchange for art, school credit and can teach you painting and any aspect of art making and the illustration business that you are interested in learning.
thank you! please email me with any questions or interest: matimcd (AT) hotmail (DOT) com

oh, how desperately i wish i were in the SF area. unfortunately i'm in denver and am (obviously) no where near there. it sounds absolutely dreamy though. oh how dreamy to work side by side with you.
i'm anxiously awaiting my true love necklace in the mail from mood swing studio. i love your necklaces and can't wait to wear it.
best of luck on finding someone (nearby) to intern. if you ever need someone from afar... :)

Dear Mati...took your class at Art Nest, OMG, what a wonderful opportunity for someone close to you. Wish I was close. Hope you find someone that works for you. I am organizing my own shop so that I can paint and create. I just bought myself a new camera to explore natural designs that we see everyday but do not notice. I wish I was growning with you.
your newsletter looks awesome this month mati!

What an amazing opportunity for one lucky person. I too so wish I lived closer and could be your intern! You'd have a whole Mati Team of interns if we all relocated.
