thursday style inspiration

as an artist, avid blog reader and color lover i'm always bookmarking and clipping inspiration to put on my wall or in my many binders (i'll have to show you these sometime).

today i culled together a trend of late of grey and yellow, plus a little feather love, that speaks to me like one of my feather power paintings~

both the headband and the shirt were originally discovered via one of my favorite style blogs modish. the room inspo was dragged onto my desktop and i neglected to note where (please let me know if you recognize so i can credit). what i love about the headband is that it's handmade and transferred watercolor... and the detailing on the shirt and cut and color combo of course... and the room i love because it reminds me of simple ways to potentially switch it up with the antlers, chalk board, paint and re-upholstering.

happy thursday,

we're subletting our apartment in JUNE

Our home

once again friends we're taking a month off and trying to sublet our SF flat. last time italy, this time maine! please let us know if you're interested and we'll send you more details.

we are looking for nice people to sublet our beautiful 2 bedroom (one is an office) Mission Apartment for the month. It is in a Victorian era building with hardwood floors, high ceilings and sunlight on a tree-lined street.

It is the sunniest part of San Francisco that is near lots of coffee shops and restaurants, public transport (BART) and biking routes.

Our apartment is reflective of 2 painters with lots of art and colorful rooms. We share our studio space in the back with other artists that could be negotiated for a extra. There is a communal backyard and roof deck filled with plants.

Thank you heaps!

my bedroom tour continues

so i took some more photos of the art in my boudoir... well, technically it's not just a lady's dressing room, it's hugh's too, but don't tell him. i've already started putting succulents on his "sacred space" as he refers to the lone shelf he occupies. don't feel sorry for him though. he has plenty of his gadgetry in the rest of the house.

bed with studio violet poster above

above is an awesome poster from studio violet (hung with this nifty hanger from rare device). below is my newest painting trade from the amazing annie galvin of 3 fish studios

awesome annie galvin

i've wanted to make a collage of prints like in my earlier post, but for right now i'm really appreciating the white space.

mom's curtins

above are the fantastic curtains my mom sewed for us when she was visiting a few weeks ago. it's made a HUGE difference from our white flimsy curtains that blinded us every morning. these babies are thick and do the trick. i also quite like the blue rose material scored at the discount fabric place on mission street. my mom also made those sweet pillows from her last trip here. i heart my mom so. thank you. i also adore having a love seat in our bedroom (especially when it's not covered with clothing) to read on.

not to mention another fabulous photo from andrea. this was taken of me TTV style when we were on the oregon coast and unfortunately not for sale... i don't think? and the one below is by yours truly and will soon be available as a print in my shop... it says "falling asleep" on it which feels quite appropriate in a bedroom, eh?

jamie hogan's art

and truly last, but not least is a beautiful pastel drawing made by one of my role models (my dad's cousin) talented jamie hogan perhaps based on this photo from our wedding.

thanks for letting me give you a tour:)

love letter to the nest

utah, oh utah
creating away
the nesters

dear art nesters,

i asked you to write a letter to your selves with your intentions for the class and now i'm writing you a letter back of gratitude.

thank you. my heart is exploding in a million pieces in the best way. i fell in love with each and every one of you and your unique stories, unfolding before us. and continuing to inspire all of us.

thank you. i will forever remember you who had never picked up a brush before, you who found her friends among us, you whose mom told you her art sucked and pushed on, you who found your confidence, you whose first piece i purchased! you who is getting married...the many of you who re-built your lives post-divorce, you who are mammas balancing their creative dreams and families, you who turned 40 and anew, all of you who inspired me with your passion and contagious enthusiasm and for letting me guide you as a newbie teacher.

thank you especially candice, julie and cossandra for creating the space to make it happen. i miss the mountains of utah... sigh.

gulp

garden rooms
sometimes there is an image that just moves you to get off your duff and create, or reinvent your space.

this is one of them for me.

found via an inspiring blog & artist, as well, who found it on other inspiring places.... so goes the internet.

i want to live here.

home inspiration
home inspiration
home inspiration
home inspiration and i want those tights! and shoes!
i'm sure we all tear out pictures of homes and images that inspire us, but it is rare that someone seems to talk my language so directly! i want to sew my vintage silk scarves together and find a table like that. i love her skirts, shoes and electric blue tights! i'm biased as a painter, but i would want to add some spots of color to this loft. anyway, it's no wonder that this girl emily chalmer's london abode written up in the British Elle Decor way back in June also has some books whose titles speak to me, namely flea market style (hey, my birthday is coming up hint hint!). emily also owns a store named Caravan (watch & listen to this!).
should i share my magazine clippings here more often? i would love to see yours!
