hello there,
i've been meaning to share with you these amazing + inspiring reads for a good long while. if you're into creative blogs like me, you've already heard of them... but still it's time to share the goodness. for the next week i'm going to share some of my favorite inspirational books of the season:
okay 1st is my dear friend kelly rae robert's incredibly inspiring and heartwarming book "taking flight: inspiration and techniques to give your creative spirit wings." i feel very honored to have been part of this book and privy to its process from the very beginning when kelly sent out an email wishing for good luck when it was merely a proposal! i am SO HUGELy proud of this girl for rocking it like she has. it has been a labor of love and a tremendous journey that she has been on these last few years and she shares it with us in her book most generously. here are some peeks~
i love this painting especially of the 3 friends~ oh how i wish i could pile my hair up like that!
i'm extra pleased that i was included in the book as a contributing artist with my painting and an interview. it features a painting based on "honoring your memories" focusing on my grandmother Eleanor Hillman who was a crafty lady who passed away when i was five and the idea of making art based on memory.
kelly has structured this book in such a cool way in that she breaks out the techniques that each contributing artist used~ like mine shown here of spray painting over lace doilies to get the layered effect.
there's so much more i could share, but maybe that would ruin the surprise of reading it yourself :)
*you can buy kelly's book signed through her site or via amazon!

Love the book!
I requested our local library buy it and now it's so popular I can't even get my hands on it.
But, no worries, I get to meet both you and Kelly at artnest!
