blooming sf

i was downloading my iphone photos recently and noticed nearly 1/2 were flower shots! it was kind of cracking me up. I thought I'd share a few here because they have such inspiring colors for paintings! Not to mention their shapes and patterns. here's the rest of my emerging set.

bluegrass, er, rocks

9018_159636640744_639165744_2822157_375325_n.jpg

this weekend we managed to catch some good music at the free bluegrass fest in golden gate park. every year it gets bigger, but somehow we still manage to run into our friends. these photos were taken by bob lake (the awesome mister of jenifer). they nearly stepped on us as they walked through the crowds with their doggie dixie... hey, we know you we said, have a seat. i love the top photo and the line of white turbans, the sun and the crowd shot to the stage as we watched ms neko case. i feel like i'm there again. i've never seen someone more inspired and better with the i-phone camera than bob. he's a talented photographer all around.

my fave song of neko's is that "teenage feeling"... i like this video i found on youtube and the textiles:

i also found this sweet illustrated video of hers... the artist looks like julie morstad, but i'm not sure?:

happy listening,

more home love

hi there,

i wanted to share another awesome photo and art collection from the oh so talented jennifer judd-mcgee of swallowfield fame (a fellow mainer and rad woman and artist). check out her etsy shoppe. i have this one and will be adding it to my framed montage soon! don't you just love her vintage pots + pans! sigh.
jennifer judd-mcgee's rad kitchen
my sweet parents michael + wanda are visiting from maine and we've been exploring my local haunts-- la taqueria was first on the list! hands down best tacos in the city (do i have any contesters out there? i know it's heated)
i'm not sure what else is on the list... maybe sewing curtains with my mom, big sur perhaps and lots of eating and walking. i'm hoping we can go to the farmer's market on saturday since it's been a regular lovely routine with miss jen and shash. i'm going to point to shash's photo collage here to show the beautiful (and inexpensive! and organic!) scene. isn't it colorful?

enjoy the day,
mati

ps- jennifer features my print on the bottom under some camilla engman's i do believe-- lucky girl!

be a tourist in your own city

by rigo
trusty companion
hello mister seagull
mister bing's
hullo!
yesterday i went for a bike ride by myself all over the city and even though i don't consider myself a photographer or have a very nice camera, i thoroughly enjoy taking pictures and being present in the moment. it's especially fun to reclaim your own city and see it through new eyes as a pretend tourist! take yourself on an artist date + give it a whirl in your own town or city for a refuel and to fall in love all over again with your home!
